Trust us … these 2017 Jeep® brand concept vehicles are no mirage. Payson AZ from the dogs perspective. Hoodlums creek adventure.

Payson AZ
Now I get that I have a better woman and a better dog than I deserve. On good days I get to load them on all and take them out to explore.  Ever wonder what the dog sees on a Jeeping With Dogs adventure?  I always figure it is what I see but lower, closer to the ground and possibly involving more butt sniffing.  The joy of living in Payson AZ is that we are surrounded by tribal land and national forest.  As with everything, that is also the curse of Payson AZ.  About 95% of the land arou...

Hey you, yes that’s right YOU. Send us a story with some pictures. Why? Because we like to hear about other folks adventures with their dogs. The best way to do that?  Guest posts. What’s in it for you besides fame? Gratitude? Good Karma? OK fine; how about a couple of stickers? A tee shirt?  I would say more, but the reality is I need to get my fat backside off my skinny wallet. This is an endeavor of love, not riches. It is a journey of sharing, best shared via the web on a guest ...

Hiking With Bikes – Part two. Feeling better now.

So part one of Hiking with Bikes, that sucked.  Bad.  Really bad.  In case you thought things somehow got better, you would be mistaken.  Hiking with bikes never really got better. Now we are in the rocky area.  One might think that it will clear up…nope.  And to add to that there are trees blocking the path, steep slopes (both up and down and I swear sometimes at the same time).  So now I have fallen a total of 342 times (12) and I am no longer holding conversations with the man ...

Saguaro Man – Radical self-reliance: I am bringing my own toilet paper.

saguaro man
Many have heard of Burning Man, an event that takes place in the Nevada Desert that produces pictures of folks looking like they are patching together a circus or taking part in a Mad Max recreation.  It is a celebration of self, life, and the ability to sustain oneself for a week in what appears to be rather harsh conditions.  There are other burns around the country and this year we are going to try our hand at Saguaro Man.  The conditions appear to be less harsh and we are closer to hom...

Hiking with bikes, part one. My precious still hurts.

hiking with bikes
On Sunday we went on our third trail ride with the EMTBs.  I am no expert but I am going to go out on a limb and say that this trail, considered “easy” on the hiking scale was not …I repeat NOT a bike trail.  Lots of people hike.  I love hiking and seeing new places and things.   The EMTBs are great because you can go a bit further, a bit faster.  But if I were to choose to hike with sixty pounds, well, obviously I would have a backpack on right?  So on Sunday we did not do a bik...

Female Bike Seat Selections – Oh the pain.

Female Bike Seat
OK, so, new bikes.  Cool beans.  Growing up the thought of changing a bike seat never, never crossed my mind.  Little older, lots of miles on a road bike, got the spandex and padding built in.  Again, never never crossed my mind to change a seat.  Then I got an exercise bike.  Been through a few decades on that, and a few seats.  Age is a cruel thing.  Little did I know I was soon to get schooled on a quest for a good female bike seat.  Few years back we had bought a new bike for Sha...

Yes Please, and Thank You. What are your plans?

Yes Please
The weather is starting to warm up and with that the thoughts of Spring start tickling at my brain.  And with that Jeeping with Dogs adventures and where we should head out to next for a quick run as well as a big vacation adventure starts to bubble up in my thoughts.  So instead of working I started researching some trails.  I came across a website that post the top 5 trails per state as rated by off-road enthusiasts.  You can find that list here. Though we are in Arizona I like to check...

Go forth friends and do the things on EMTBs

EMTBs
The mister, or as I like to call him my own personal activities director, decided we needed to add mountain biking to our activities.  I have great respect for those that get out there and do stuff, and even more respect for those that are getting a wee bit older and can self-propel themselves through the lands.  My man bought us a couple of e mountain bikes or as he calls them EMTBs. See the details here and for ease I am just going to call them EMTBs.  Such utility and ease of use. No...

Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Platform Review

Swagman Escapee
So, cool.  Bikes.  Trouble is the Jeep is not real user friendly when transporting bikes.  (Sell the truck she said…. Buy a Jeep she said…. It will be fun she said…..) Outside of a truck or van, I am hard pressed to figure a vehicle that is friendly in that regard.  Now the Jeep has been modified.  I know this because I have the receipts to show for it.  There really is no such thing as a stock Jeep is there?  Our modifications included a beefy rear bumper with tire mount and var...

Haibike SDURO HardSeven SL

Haibike SDURO HardSeven SL
Like I mentioned earlier, EMTBs have come of age in the last few years allowing us to settle in on the Haibike SDURO HardSeven SL.  The biggest advancement?  Batteries and the Lithium Polymer (li po).  But they are pricey!  How pricey?  About $800.00 for a battery pack.  They have some clear advantages and disadvantages.  First, the weight – much lighter.  Higher capacity allowing them to hold more power combined with a higher discharge rate.  Everything has trade offs.  In this c...
